Children praised for closing an open drain

Two children, who closed an open drain braving the rain, were appreciated and rewarded by Director of Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue services, DGP Dr. C. Sylendra Babu IPS on 11.01.2021.

A video of two children, trying to close an open drain on the roadside went viral on social media recently. The children were identified as A. Devayani and her brother A. Vignesh. 

In order to motivate the children who have set an example for others to accomplish things that he/she is more resistant to or that are more challenging, Director of Tamilnadu Fire and Rescue Services gave out a cash award of Rs. 2000, books and gifts to the children at the headquarters of the Fire and Rescue Services Department. Priya Ravichandran, Joint Director Northern Region, Sathyanarayanan, Deputy Director Headquarters, Syed Mohammed Shah, District Fire Officer – Chennai South and the parents of the children were also present at the event.
