Kalaignar Centenary Celebration and NorthEast Monsoon Mock drill exercises - 2023

Department of Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services (TNFRS) is gearing up to handle any natural calamity during the upcoming northeast monsoon that might set in by October end. As a part of the birth centenary celebrations of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, the Department of Fire and Rescue Services have been conducting fire safety awareness programmes at schools, colleges, temples, industries, commercial complexes, and places where people gather in large numbers.

The fire department personnel are conducting mock drills at key locations across the state for the past one month on how the public can protect themselves and others from the effects of floods, storms and landslides caused by heavy rains during northeast monsoon. 

The mock drills are being held at major government offices, bus stands, schools, colleges, factories, waterbodies such as sea, river, lakes, Canals, ponds  and other public places across Tamil Nadu.The mock drills demonstrated rescuing the drowning victims using Rubber boat, Life buoy, Life jacket, how to self-rescue using Water bottles, LPG Cylinders and First aid techniques.

The equipments deployed by firefighters during rescue and fire-fighting operations were demonstrated during the event. Demonstrations are also made on how to make rescue equipments with materials that are readily available in our surroundings.
